For Devin LeSassier, barbering didn’t begin as a career. It began as a calling.

His journey started at just 10 years old, when he picked up his first clippers and began cutting hair. But even then, Devin wasn’t only interested in learning how to cut—he wanted to understand where the craft came from. He began studying the history and traditions of barbering, developing an appreciation for the artistry, culture, discipline, and legacy behind the profession.

That childhood curiosity became the foundation of a career spanning more than three decades.

FROM THE BARBERSHOP TO THE HAMPTONS

As his reputation and experience grew, Devin took his craft into increasingly influential spaces.

For two summers, he opened LeSassier’s Barber Shop in the Hamptons, collaborating alongside GQ magazine and bringing an elevated barbering experience to one of the country’s most exclusive destinations.

His career would also take him to Fifth Avenue in New York City, where he cut hair for luxury fashion house Domenico Vacca—further establishing Devin at the intersection of barbering, fashion, luxury, and personal style.

THE EDUCATOR

After decades behind the chair, Devin understood that mastery wasn’t only about what he could create with his own hands.

It was also about what he could teach others.

His expertise led him to travel with SheaMoisture, educating people across different backgrounds, ethnicities, hair textures, and hair types.

That experience expanded Devin’s philosophy as a barber: great grooming is never one-size-fits-all.

Understanding the individual—their hair, texture, lifestyle, identity, and desired image—is just as important as mastering the tools.

THE NEXT CHAPTER

Today, Devin is taking everything he has learned—from the young boy studying barber history to the master barber working in luxury, fashion, education, and entertainment—and building something larger.

The future of LeSassier is about legacy.

Through The Barber Surgeons, education and mentorship, media and storytelling, innovative barber experiences, and future business ventures, Devin’s mission is to help elevate the profession that has shaped his life.

He wants the next generation of barbers and grooming artists to understand that their talent can take them far beyond the chair.
